Craig Smith helps raise vital funds for Fife Young Carers

Our Commercial Property Associate Director, Craig Smith, recently took part in a 50 mile ‘Bridge to Bridge’ walk, in aid of local charity, Fife Young Carers on Saturday 23rd June.

This was the fourth annual Bridge to Bridge walk and thanks in no small part to the warm weather, it was as challenging as ever. The hikers set off at sunrise from the Forth Rail Bridge in North Queensferry, through the former mining towns of West Fife, around the majestic twin beacons of the Lomond hills and over the rolling agricultural landscape of North East Fife, before those brave souls in the group who had undertaken the full 50 miles arrived at the Tay Rail Bridge just after midnight.

Fife Young Carers support children and young people aged between 8-18 years who are looking after an ill or disabled relative. Young Carers look after parents, grandparents or siblings who are ill or have a disability which affects the whole family. Young Carers may cook, clean, give medicines and many of the things parents normally do and sometimes they miss out on school and going out with friends as a result. They take on the roles and responsibilities of adults and miss out on many childhood experiences which others take for granted.

To date, the total donations received this year are in excess of £2,400. If you would like to help the group reach their fundraising target for Fife Young Carers of £3,000, please click here.
